Vijan was originally released in 2003 on I Grade Records and was produced by Vaughn Benjamin, the founder of the Virgin Islands reggae outfit - who sadly passed in 2018 - and Laurent "Tippy I" Alfred. It pairs the spiritual depth of Benjamin's songwriting with the melodic sophistication that defined the cultured I Grade sound. Contributions from Tuff Lion on guitar, Kenyatta Itola on bass and Dion "Bosie" Hopkins on drums give the record its distinctive groove while Benjamin himself adds drums, bass and keys on tracks such as 'All Ye Naashan' and 'Thanks for Life'. It was a real landmark of the roots reggae of the band's homeland, St. Croix, and a timeworn back to the essence of the golden era.
