1982 heard Mumbai keyboardist Charanjit Singh put a sonic bomb in a time capsule; Synthesizing Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat was considered far ahead of the curve. Working at HMV Studios with newly OK'ed Roland machines, Singh would fuse classical Indian ragas with drum machines and acid bass, years before the latter term existed. The album arrived midway through his career as a film session musician and arranger, then slipped into obscurity as he stepped back from recording. This 2026 reissue restores the ten-track set to full splendour, remastered and spread over deluxe double vinyl, as ancient melodic forms are made demonstrably fusible across cultures, shown to "colour the mind" of the floor.
