Next up on Fluid Electronics, Irish techno favourite Derek Carr operates at the cinematic end of the spectrum. His sounds work the body, sure, but often their beauty lies in the synth craft and whimsical arps that float up top and keep the mind fed. The opener on his new one for Fluid Electronics is a perfect case in point - gorgeously roomy and cosmic with a deft melodic touch as punchy broken beats do their work below. 'Dust Yourself Down' has bright synths unfurling over mid-tempo drums that comfort. Dutch techno talent Deniro remixes with more physical rhythms and urgency and 'Rhea' closes down with icy IDM textures and suspensory lines that wash over you to cathartic effect.
