Manchurian enigma J.S. Zeiter, known best for his pioneering run of dub techno records as JS in the late '90s, continues his mysterious streak with an ambient record to launch the new Expanding Vision label. The untitled six-track set is replete with lush drone, only gently hinting at JS’s dancefloor past with a spacey hi-hat pattern on ‘Untitled 2’ and a chirpier turn on ‘Untitled 5.’ As a whole, EV 001 makes for a warm sonic pivot that, like most of Zeiter’s other releases, will surely catch fire when it hits the secondhand market.
