With raving acid and electro, Uf0 journeys from darkness to light on You Will Shine. From the sweet melancholia of ‘That Saturday Night’, introspective with soft beats like flickering lights, to the optimistic shuffles of ‘Happy Voices In My Head’, You Will Shine finds its catharsis in hazy acid and electro rhythms.
Ghostly vocals shimmer throughout ‘Assimilation Of My Freedom’, echoing “Going nowhere” with cinematic strings punctuated by punchy, rocketing beats. ‘Suicidal Thoughts’ turns up to a hyper intensity with jittery breakbeats fill the gaps in between stoic passages of stillness, crashing with the sound of broken glass. ‘Welcome Adrian’ is warm with drilling beats and metallic percussion, but the mood turns back to solemnity on ‘Adrian It Was Not The Right Time’ as acid synths drift out into an ambient ocean before swaying electro rhythms pull the world back into focus. The penultimate title track is somewhat retro-tinged with its glittering synths and gated snares flowing over a catchy front and centre bassline, shrugging off the demons with dazzling dance music.
Born from a time of strife and darkness, You Will Shine is the second full length album from Uf0, charting a path through “the biggest hell” that the Spanish producer experienced. Moving up to Furthur Electronix from his Horazie EP on sublabel Altered Sense, he elevates his sound and conceptuality with newly emotionally charged and personally inspired productions.
