Phase One: The Collector’s Edition is a curated anthology centered on one of the most important roots reggae production houses of the 1970s: Phase One Records, run by producer Roy Cousins (also leader of The Royals).
This collection compiles recordings produced during the golden era of roots reggae (mid-to-late 1970s), a period known for deeply spiritual themes, heavy basslines, and socially conscious lyrics. The “Collector’s Edition” versions (released later on CD and vinyl reissues) aim to preserve and expand the original Phase One catalogue, often including rare mixes or extended cuts.
