Soul Jazz Records present Studio One Sound, a cornerstone collection from the legendary Studio One catalogue. Dubbed ‘The University of Reggae’ by Chris Blackwell, the label founded by Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd remains one of the most influential forces in Jamaican music history.
Long sought after and unavailable for years, this edition returns the compilation to print. Drawing on more than five decades of music, it gathers essential cuts from artists including The Heptones, Ken Boothe, The Skatalites, Johnny Osbourne and Wailing Souls – all of whom began their journeys at Studio One under Dodd’s guidance.
From foundational ska and rocksteady through to deep roots and dub, Studio One Sound captures the breadth and brilliance of the label’s output. Featuring sleeve notes by Rob Chapman and faithfully restored original artwork, the album is newly remastered for vinyl by Jason Goz at Transition.
